PFAS compounds testing kits

Current study:

Measuring typical PFAS levels in blood samples for adult population

Our current study is measuring the typical levels of various PFAS compounds seen in dried blood samples from healthy adults. Samples may also be stored to test their stability.

Why is this important?

Our test looks at the levels of up to 24 specific PFAS compounds using a simple home finger prick blood test. This study will allow us to understand the “normal” levels of these PFAS compounds in the general population.

What are PFAS compounds?

PFAS stands for per- and polyfluoroalkl substances, a large group of man-made chemicals that are widely used in industry thanks to their desirable properties

We're working on the breath test to support our PFAS testing

FAQ

What is the current research study?

Our current study is measuring the normal levels of PFAS compounds seen in dried blood samples from healthy adults. We are also looking at the stability of the samples over time.

Why is this important?

Our test looks at the levels of 24 specific PFAS compounds using a simple home finger prick blood test. This study will allow us to understand the “normal” levels of these PFAS compounds in the general population.

How do I volunteer?

You can sign up by clicking the link above. You will be asked to complete an informed consent form and to provide a few personal details. One of the study coordinators will assess if you are eligible. If you are, we will mail your sample collection kit to you.

What is in the sample collection kit?

The sample collection kit contains everything you need to collect a sample. This includes cleaning wipes, lancets to prick the end of your finger, the collection device, bandaids, and a reply-paid shipping envelope to return the sample. There are also clear instructions for use included within the kit.

How do I collect my sample?

Collecting the sample is quite easy. Clean the finger tip with a new alcohol wipe. Put the lancet on the end of your finger and click it to make a small prick. Wipe away the first drop of blood with a dry gauze. Then hold the sample collection device to the finger to collect the sample. Once collected, seal the device and write your name and date of birth on the label. Then place it in the reply paid envelope and return to us.

Can I see my results?

Unfortunately, you are not allowed to view your results afterwards. However, once the study is complete we will release the full anonymized results. We will inform all study participants once the results are available.
